Bromine
Bromine is a very dense (3.18 at 0 degrees C), corrosive liquid of reddish or dark brown color, even when cold it emits an acrid red "smoke" irritating the eyes. It burns the skin causing it to turn yellow and ignites organic materials, for example, sawdust. It is stored in glass or ceramic containers. It is slightly soluble in water. In this commodity position, solutions of bromine in acetic acid (commodity position 3824) are not considered.
Bromine is used in the production of medicines (for example, sedatives), dyes (for example, eosins, brominated derivatives of indigo), photographic chemicals (silver bromide), lacrimatory agents (bromoacetone), in metallurgy and so on.
