Panic disorder

Panic disorder is characterized by recurrent episodes of acute anxiety (panic), accompanied by tachycardia, elevated blood pressure, a feeling of suffocation, dizziness, fear of death or loss of control. Although the episode itself usually lasts only a few minutes, between episodes the patient is not relieved of the tension associated with the expectation of the next paroxysm.
