Cultivation of Lands
Land improvement refers to a set of activities aimed at improving the chemical and physical properties of soils on improved lands, as well as increasing their fertility in order to create conditions that meet the needs of crops. It includes gypsum application to saline and solonetzic soils, liming of soils, phosphorite application, leaching of salt-affected lands, application of increased doses of organic and mineral fertilizers, sowing and incorporation of green manure crops. The recommended doses of soil conditioners and fertilizers for land improvement generally significantly exceed the permissible single (annual) application dose for soils. Therefore, soil conditioners and fertilizers used in land improvement are applied in fractional doses over several years. Land improvement is carried out either as a separate project (with necessary design and estimate documentation), or as part of an irrigation (drainage) project for lands or the implementation of agricultural technical works.
