Current (Fair) Value of Financial Instruments

The current (fair) value of financial instruments is the amount for which an asset can be exchanged or a liability settled in a transaction between well-informed, willing, and independent parties, for transactions conducted as part of regular business activities, rather than for forced (compulsory) transactions (in cases of compulsory liquidation or compulsory realization of financial instruments). Indicators of a forced (compulsory) transaction on the market may include: the necessity of immediate disposal of financial instruments and insufficient time to sell them, the presence of only one potential buyer due to imposed legal and time restrictions, a significant excess of supply over demand, as well as other similar indicators.
