Goals of Regional Policy in the Russian Federation

The main objectives of regional policy in the Russian Federation are:

ensuring the economic, social, legal and organizational foundations of federalism in the Russian Federation, creating a unified economic space;

ensuring uniform minimum social standards and equal social protection, guaranteeing citizens' social rights established by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, regardless of the economic capabilities of regions;

equalizing conditions for socio-economic development of regions;

preventing pollution of the environment, as well as eliminating the consequences of its pollution, comprehensive environmental protection of regions;

priority development of regions with particularly important strategic significance;

maximum use of natural and climatic characteristics of regions;

establishment and ensuring guarantees of local self-government
