Influential political figures
76. Prominent political figures are a term used in reference to individuals who have been or were previously entrusted with important governmental functions in a particular country. This category includes, for example, heads of state or government, influential political and government officials, members of courts or military command, senior executives of state-owned corporations, and key figures within political parties. Due to the special status of prominent political figures (political within their own country or possibly diplomatic when working abroad), financial institutions often grant prominent political figures a certain degree of freedom in conducting financial transactions, both by themselves and on their behalf by third parties. If an influential political figure becomes involved in any criminal activity, then this traditional freedom of action, granted to them for conducting financial transactions, often serves as an obstacle to the detection or investigation of crimes in which they may be implicated
