Primary processing of mineral resources

1. Primary processing of minerals is recognized as a type of mining and industrial activity directly following extraction, which includes sorting on site, crushing or grinding, classification (sorting), briquetting, agglomeration, and enrichment by physico-chemical methods (without significant changes to the mineral forms of solid minerals, their aggregate-phase state, crystallochemical structure), cleaning and drying of crude oil and natural gas, and other operations specified in contracts (agreements) attached to the license for the use of subsoil resources.

2. Primary processing may include processing technologies that are special types of extraction works (underground gasification and smelting, chemical and bacterial leaching, dredging and hydraulic development of placer deposits). In the case of precious stone mining, primary processing includes initial sorting and preliminary evaluation of extracted diamond raw material.
