Radio Tuner

A radio tuner (in a separate casing) is a receiver of radio signals. Radio tuners are classified according to the ranges of radio signals they can receive - long wave, medium wave, short wave, and ultra-short wave according to various regional or state standards. Currently produced radio tuners are multi-band, i.e., supporting several bands of received radio signals. An important characteristic of a modern radio tuner is the ability to receive ultra-short waves of different standards - FM (frequency modulation, CCIR standard), used in European and most Asian countries, and UHF (ultra-high frequency, OIRT standard), which was previously used and is still currently used on post-Soviet space. Some radio tuners have the capability to receive RDS (radio data system) signals transmitted by some FM radio stations, thereby expanding the functionality of such a device
