Piracy


1. An attack on a sea or river vessel with the aim of seizing someone else's property, committed by using violence or threatening to use it,

is punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years.

2. The same act, committed by using weapons or objects used as weapons,

(as amended by Federal Law No. 162-FZ dated December 8, 2003)

is punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of eight to twelve years with a fine in the amount up to five hundred thousand rubles or in the amount of the convicted person's salary or other income for a period up to three years, or without such a fine.

3. Acts provided for in paragraphs 1 or 2 of this article, if they are committed by an organized group or have caused death of a person or other serious consequences due to negligence,

shall be subject to deprivation of liberty for a term of ten to fifteen years with a fine of up to five hundred thousand rubles or in the amount of the convicted person's wages or other income for a period of up to three years, or without such a fine
