Labor Action

A work action is a "complex of work movements having a single objective purpose and characterized by the constancy of material elements throughout its entire execution time. A work action consists of two or more work movements and is a component part of a work method. A change in material elements signifies the beginning of a new work action. For example, in order to turn a bolt, it is first necessary to perform two actions: "take the wrench" and "position the wrench on the bolt head". The action "take the wrench" consists of two work movements: "extend the arm" and "grasp (with fingers)". The action "position the wrench on the bolt head" consists of two work movements: "move the wrench towards the bolt" and "align the wrench with the bolt head". The material elements of the first work action are the wrench, while those of the second are the wrench and the bolt" <*>
