Liability of Heirs for the Debts of the Decedent
1. Heirs who have accepted the inheritance are jointly and severally liable for the deceased's debts (Article 323).
Each heir is liable for the deceased's debts up to the value of the inherited property that has passed to them.
2. An heir who accepts the inheritance in accordance with the rules of succession by transmission (Article 1156) is liable up to the value of this inherited property for the debts of the deceased to whom this property belonged, and is not liable with this property for the debts of the heir from whom the right to accept the inheritance passed to them.
