X-ray tubes

A. X-ray tubes. These are devices in which electrical energy is converted into X-rays.

The characteristics of such tubes vary depending on their intended use. They essentially consist of a cathode, which emits electrons, and an anode (also known as an anticathode), which absorbs these electrons, thereby causing the emission of X-rays. In some cases, these tubes also have multiple intermediate electrodes for accelerating the electron flow. These electrodes are mounted inside the tube or casing, usually made of glass, with appropriate electrical contacts. The tube is often placed in an electrically insulated metal container filled with oil. Sometimes the tube is filled with gas, but more frequently it maintains a high degree of vacuum.
