Soap Stocks


2. Soapstocks. A by-product of oil refining obtained as a result of neutralizing free fatty acids with a base (sodium hydroxide) and consisting of a mixture of unrefined soap and neutral oils or fats. Soapstocks have a pasty consistency of various colors (reddish-yellow, whitish, reddish-green, etc.) depending on the raw material from which the oil is extracted. They are used in soap manufacturing
