Depressive triad


Depressive triad: negative, destructive self-evaluation, negative assessment of the external world, and pessimistic view of the future. The patient suffers from low mood, loss of interests, emotional blunting, and inability to derive pleasure from activities that normally bring satisfaction, reduced energy levels leading to increased fatigue (even with minimal effort) and decreased activity. Their ability to concentrate and pay attention is impaired, self-confidence is diminished, feelings of guilt and worthlessness are present (even in mild depression), there is a bleak perception of the future, and ideas or actions directed toward self-harm or suicidal ideation, disrupted sleep, decreased appetite and weight loss (typically considered to be a 5% weight loss over the past month), marked decrease in libido. Mood fluctuates little from day to day, with frequent lack of response to external stimuli, but there may be characteristic daily fluctuations. In some cases, anxiety, despair, and psychomotor agitation may be more pronounced than depression, and mood changes may also be masked by additional symptoms: irritability, excessive alcohol consumption, histrionic behavior, exacerbation of previous phobic or obsessive symptoms,
