Nitrogen

Nitrogen is a gas that extinguishes flame because it does not burn or support combustion. It is obtained by fractional distillation of liquid air and stored under pressure in steel cylinders.

Nitrogen is mainly used for the production of ammonia and calcium cyanamide, as well as for creating an inert atmosphere in bulbs of electric lamps, etc.
