Thermodiffusion zinc coating

Thermodiffusion zinc coating is anodic relative to black metals and electrochemically protects steel from corrosion. It has strong adhesion with the base metal due to mutual diffusion of iron and zinc in surface intermetallic phases, so peeling and flaking of the coating does not occur under impacts, mechanical loads, and deformations of processed products. GOST 9.302-88 does not establish a test method for evaluating adhesion of thermodiffusion zinc coatings. The methods established in GOST 9.302-88 for testing the strength of adhesion (bonding) of zinc coatings are widely used and recommended for assessing the strength of bonding between different layers of thermodiffusion zinc coating; however, in some cases other tests may be more acceptable, which should be determined by agreement with the consumer.
