Methanol
Methanol (CH-OH) is a liquid with a specific gravity of 0.78 kg/cm and a boiling point of minus 64.7 °C. The vapor density of methanol relative to air is 1.1. It forms explosive mixtures with air (explosive limits 5.5 - 36.5%). It has a color, odor, and taste similar to wine (ethanol) alcohol. The lethal dose when ingested is 30 g; smaller doses cause severe poisoning accompanied by blindness. Methanol can penetrate the body even through intact skin. When working with methanol, the "General Sanitary Rules for Storage and Use of Methanol" and "Instructions on the Procedure for Obtaining, Transporting, Storing, and Using Methanol" must be strictly followed.
