Auxiliary vessels


Auxiliary vessels are surface ships that form part of the naval fleet, with a standard displacement of more than 100 tons (102 metric tons), which are usually used for fleet purposes or for transporting troops or for any other purpose other than combat ships, which have not been specifically constructed to be combat ships and which do not meet any of the following characteristics:

a) having weapons with a caliber larger than 155 millimeters (6.1 inches);

b) having more than eight weapons with a caliber larger than 76 millimeters (3 inches);

c) being intended or equipped for launching torpedoes;

d) being intended for protection by armor plating;

e) being intended to achieve a speed exceeding twenty-eight knots;

f) being intended or primarily designed for the operation of aircraft at sea;

g) having more than two aircraft launching devices on board
