Biologically Active Additives (BAA)

Biologically active additives (BAA) to food - a complex of biologically active substances intended for direct consumption with food or incorporation into the composition of food products. These include: plant extracts, whole parts of plants, beekeeping products, seafood, animal extracts, mineral components, fermentation products, biotechnology products, synthetic analogs of natural food substances. All BAA are divided into two major groups:

Functional foods - contain essential food components: vitamins, minerals, amino acids, phospholipids, antioxidants, dietary fiber and other components intended for nutritional correction. They compensate for the deficiency of nutrients, serve for the prevention of metabolic disorders, increase the body's resistance to stress, chronic overload, epidemics;

Pharmaceuticals - these are food supplements containing biologically active substances with therapeutic effects. They are intended to enhance the adaptive capabilities of the body in adverse conditions, after having undergone diseases, for boosting immunity, normalization of functional disorders in the body. Pharmaceuticals are used as an adjunct to primary medical treatment

Bioactive food supplements are natural (identical to natural) bioactive substances intended for consumption together with food or incorporation into food products.

Food supplements are used as an additional source of dietary and bioactive substances, for optimizing carbohydrate, fat, protein, vitamin and other types of metabolic processes under various functional states, for normalization and/or improvement of the functional state of human organs and systems, including those that have general strengthening, mild diuretic, tonic, calming and other types of effects under various functional states, for reducing the risk of diseases, as well as for normalizing the microflora of the gastrointestinal tract, as enterosorbents
