Petrolatum


Petroleum jelly is a greasy substance. It is white, yellowish or dark brown in color. It is obtained from the residues of distillation of certain types of crude oil, or by mixing high-viscosity petroleum products with such residues, or by mixing paraffin or ceresin with sufficiently purified mineral oil. This commodity category includes raw petroleum jelly (sometimes called petrolatum), decolored or refined. It also includes petroleum jelly obtained by synthesis.
