Cossack Shashka (Caucasian)

2. Cossack Saber (Caucasian).

Steel blade with slight curvature, single-edged, double-sided. The fighting end is double-edged. On the left side of the blade there is a traditional marking consisting of letters "KKV" (Kuban Cossack Regiment) or "TKV" (Terek Cossack Regiment).

The hilt consists of one handle with two bone cheek pieces, fastened to the blade by rivets through holes in the cheek pieces and the blade's tang. The handle is inserted into the scabbard by the pommel.

Scabbards are wooden, covered with black leather. The metal fittings consist of three sheaths and a tip (decorated with traditional patterns). At the upper sheath there is an expansion at the mouth to protect the top end from damage. On the middle sheath there is a bracket, on the lower sheath there is a ring for the belt. Metal color - white.

Total length of the saber (without scabbard) - 960 mm, blade length - 795 mm, maximum blade width - 35 mm, weight - up to 1.2 kg.

A construction of shashkas with a handle covered with metal (decorated with traditional patterns or ornament) that does not extend into the scabbard beyond the pommel (for wearing by higher, principal and senior ranks of Cossack societies) is allowed
