Cathode Ray Tube Televisions

CRT televisions are manufactured with standard (bulging) screens as well as flat screens. CRT televisions with standard screens mainly have a diagonal size range from 14" (37 cm) to 29" (72 cm). The image scanning frequency in these televisions is 50 Hz. The most applicable screen format is 4/3. Depending on the diagonal size, the approximate price difference among CRT televisions with standard screens ranges from 40 - 65%.

A special technology for manufacturing flat-screen cathode ray tubes allows avoiding distortions of the television picture at the edges. In addition, flat-screen cathode ray tube televisions can employ advanced 100 Hz image scanning technology, which eliminates screen flicker by doubling the scanning frequency and provides smoother motion transmission compared to televisions with standard screens. Unlike standard cathode ray tube televisions, flat-screen televisions have a wider range of diagonal sizes - from 15" (37 cm) up to 36" (90 cm). Flat-screen cathode ray tube televisions, in addition to the standard 4:3 format, can also have a wide screen format - 16:9. The cost of flat-screen televisions is approximately 25% higher than that of standard screen televisions with similar characteristics. The presence of options in a cathode ray tube television, such as stereo sound, teletext, front and side AV inputs, special connectors and headphone outputs, can increase the cost of the television by 3 - 10%. For larger diagonal sizes (from 32" (80 cm)), the number of mandatory options typically increases significantly, which in turn affects the product's price. Such mandatory options include, for example, various surround sound systems, teletext, image optimization systems, stereo sound, built-in subwoofers, etc. The price of televisions with a 32" diagonal size increases compared to 29-inch televisions by an average of 60% and more.

On the global market, cathode ray tube televisions are produced by the following main manufacturers: ANV, Bang and Olufsen, JVC, Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Thomson, Toshiba, Vetfor, Loewe - and others
