Reeds (bulrushes)
3. Reed and rush; this is a collective name for many herbaceous plants growing in wet areas both in the temperate zone and in the tropics. Reeds usually have straight hollow rigid stems with nodes evenly distributed along the length of the stem and indicating the attachment points of leaves. The most well-known include common reed (Scirpus lacustris), arundo donax (Arundo donax), common reed (Phragmites communis), various species of Cyperus (sedge) (for example, Cyperus tegetiformis - small sedge) and species of Juncus (rush) (for example, Juncus effusus - spreading rush)
