Brachytherapy
Brachytherapy - within the scope of this document - refers to interstitial radiation therapy of the prostate through implantation of a sealed source of I-125 fixed on a polymeric resorbable strand "I-125 Rapid Strand". Implantation of the source is performed in tumors with low or moderate radiosensitivity. The method may be used for treatment of primary disease (e.g., prostate cancer) as well as for treatment of residual manifestations following resection of the primary tumor.
