Tungsten


Tungsten is a metal with a steel-gray color and high values of density and melting temperature. It is brittle, hard, and has high corrosion resistance.

Tungsten is used for manufacturing filaments in electric light bulbs and vacuum tubes; heating elements of electric furnaces; anodes for X-ray tubes; electrical contacts; non-magnetic springs in electrical measuring instruments or watches; lenses in telescope optics; it is also used as electrodes for hydrogen arc welding, etc.
