Synchronous Transport Module


Synchronous Transport Module (STM) - an information structure used in Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) to support connections at the section level. It consists of information payload and section overhead (SOH), which are part of the frame structure that repeats every 125 µs. Information is appropriately prepared for sequential transmission at a rate synchronized with the network
