Extension of the period of detention of a defendant

Extension of the period of pre-trial detention — if there is evidence indicating that releasing the accused from custody would significantly hinder a comprehensive, complete, and objective examination of the circumstances of the case, the court at its own initiative or upon the prosecutor's application may extend the period of pre-trial detention until the court renders a decision on the merits of the case, but not for more than three months1.
