Deposit of a microbial strain
Deposition of a microbial strain refers to the transfer of its sample to a collection for the purposes of registration, storage, protection against unauthorized use, and issuance of samples in accordance with established rules. At the same time, deposition is one of the conditions for confirming the feasibility of an invention relating directly to the microbial strain as well as other inventions that make use of new strains isolated from natural sources or obtained through traditional mutagenesis. Deposition must be carried out before the date of filing the application. It should be noted that depending on the objectives addressed during deposition, different forms of deposition are provided: storage, guaranteed storage, and deposition for patent procedure purposes. The latter form of deposition is specifically intended for cases when a patent application is planned, and only this type of deposition meets the goals of patenting as it guarantees the preservation of the deposit and other requirements.
