Borehole Neutron Generators


2.1. SGNs are intended for use as a source of neutrons in geophysical logging equipment. SGNs are man-made sources of ionizing radiation that pose a potential radiological hazard to human health. SGNs belong to generating sources of ionizing radiation.

2.2. SGNs are compact deuteron accelerators. They include an accelerator tube, a target containing deuterium () or tritium (), a high-voltage power supply source, and measuring equipment. Accelerator tubes used for neutron generation are commonly referred to as neutron tubes.
