Duties of a Journalist
A journalist is obliged:
1) to comply with the editorial code of the media outlet with which he or she has an employment relationship;
2) to verify the accuracy of the information he or she reports;
3) to satisfy the requests of persons who provided information regarding the indication of its source, as well as the authorization of a quoted statement, if it is being published for the first time;
4) to maintain confidentiality of the information and (or) its source;
5) to obtain consent (except in cases where it is necessary for the protection of public interests) from the citizen or his or her legal representatives for the dissemination in mass media of information regarding a citizen's private life;
6) when receiving information from citizens and officials, to inform them about the conduct of audio and video recordings, cinematographic and photographic filming;
7) to inform the chief editor about possible claims and other requirements provided for by law in connection with the dissemination of a prepared message or material.
8) refuse to perform the task assigned by the chief editor or editorial board if it or its performance is associated with a violation of the law;
9) present upon carrying out professional activities at the first request an editorial certificate or another document confirming the identity and authority of the journalist;

10) comply with the prohibition on conducting pre-election campaigning or campaigning on referendum issues during professional activities.

A journalist is also subject to other obligations established by Russian Federation legislation on mass media;
