Bridge guardrail


bridge guardrail: a structural element of the bridge deck, installed at the boundaries of the clearance for structures, intended to prevent vehicles from leaving the bridge and to correct the trajectory of a vehicle when it hits the guardrail. The guardrail may be made of concrete, reinforced concrete or metal. In terms of construction, there are barrier-type guardrails consisting of posts and a horizontal beam or profiled steel strip or tube (tubes) mounted on the posts at some level above the surface of the deck, and parapet guardrails constructed as a reinforced concrete wall
