State Forensic-Judicial Institutions
State forensic institutions are specialized institutions of federal executive bodies and executive bodies of the subjects of the Russian Federation established to ensure the performance of the powers of courts, judges, investigative bodies, persons conducting investigations, and investigators through the organization and conduct of judicial expertise.

The organization and conduct of judicial expertise may also be carried out by expert units established by federal executive bodies or executive bodies of the subjects of the Russian Federation. In cases where the conduct of judicial expertise is entrusted to these expert units, they perform functions, fulfill obligations, have rights, and bear responsibility as state forensic institutions.
