Subsidence of rock formations


47. Subsidence refers to uneven vertical settlement of bench slopes and dump pile surfaces composed of highly porous loose rocks with natural and disturbed structures under the influence of their own weight, dynamic loads, etc. During subsidence, a continuous sliding surface typically does not form. A special type of subsidence phenomena are sinkholes caused by karst processes and underground mining activities
