Industrial plutonium


Industrial plutonium is produced by irradiating uranium-238 in nuclear reactors.

This is a very heavy (relative density 19.8) radioactive and highly toxic element. It resembles uranium in appearance and oxidizability.

Plutonium is supplied in industry in the same form as enriched uranium, and requires the utmost caution when handling
