Cholera
Cholera is an acute infectious disease characterized by a diarrheal syndrome, with fecal-oral route of infection, and transmission through foodborne, waterborne, and contact-household pathways. It belongs to the group of infections for which control measures are regulated by the International Health Regulations (2005).
The causative agents of cholera are Vibrio cholerae O1 (classical and El Tor biotypes) and O139 serogroups.
