Keyboard
The keyboard is designed for inputting alphanumeric information from the user into the computer. The keyboard is the main component for entering alphabetic and numeric information into the computer. A modern keyboard model has 101 - 102 keys.
The keyboard represents a switch or signal converter (mechanical, membrane, or touch-sensitive). A small microprocessor located inside the keyboard tracks the state of the switch and upon pressing or releasing sends an appropriate functional message to the system unit.
At present, keyboards are produced in several types:
- standard;
- standard without connecting cables (information transmission via infrared rays);
- sliding or foldable;
- touch-sensitive based on polyethylene.
Some keyboards have additional devices built-in:
- pointing device (a substitute for a "mouse");
- magnetic stripe reader device, for providing access to work with a computer;
- fingerprint verification window, for providing access to work with a computer
