Monitoring of the Working Environment
Work environment monitoring is a general term encompassing the identification and assessment of environmental factors that may adversely affect workers' health. It includes the evaluation of sanitary and occupational hygiene conditions, organizational factors of work that may pose risks to workers' health, collective and individual protective equipment, exposure of workers to hazardous agents, and control systems designed to eliminate or limit these exposures. From the perspective of worker health, work environment monitoring may focus, but is not limited to, ergonomics, accident and disease prevention, occupational hygiene, organization of work, and psychosocial factors in the workplace (ILO, 1998)
