Osmium

D. Osmium is the most refractory metal among those included in this commodity code. In its compact state, it has a bluish-white color resembling that of zinc and exhibits resistance to acid attack. When finely divided, it appears as an amorphous black powder which is attacked by nitric acid and aqua regia and slowly oxidized in air.

This metal is mainly used in various hard corrosion-resistant alloys used for pen tip nibs or pointed ends of shafts in different instruments. It is also used as a catalyst
