Place of opening of the inheritance
The place where the inheritance is opened is the last residence of the deceased (Article 20).
If the last residence of the deceased, who owned property on the territory of the Russian Federation, is unknown or located outside its borders, the place where the inheritance is opened within the Russian Federation is considered to be the location of such inherited property. If this inherited property is located in different places, the place where the inheritance is opened is the location of the real estate included in it or the most valuable part of the real estate; if there is no real estate, then the location of movable property or its most valuable part. The value of the property is determined based on its market value.
