Financial Embedded Derivative Instrument
10. Embedded derivative - a part of a hybrid (combined) instrument, which also includes a non-derivative main contract, and at the same time the movement of certain funds changes in a manner similar to the movement of funds of an independent derivative instrument. An embedded derivative defines the change in the movement of some or all cash flows that would otherwise be determined by the contract according to an agreed interest rate, price of a financial instrument, price of a commodity, exchange rate, price index or rates, credit rating or credit index, or another variable, provided that in the case of a non-financial variable it is not specific to a party to the contract. A derivative instrument linked to a financial instrument, however, which may be transferred independently of such an instrument under the contract, or provides for a counterparty different from the counterparty of the financial instrument, is not an embedded derivative instrument but an independent financial instrument.
