Weak soils
Weak soils: cohesive soils having shear strength under natural conditions less than 0.075 MPa (as determined by rotary shear devices) or a settlement modulus greater than 50 mm/m at a load of 0.25 MPa (deformation modulus below 5 MPa). In the absence of test data, peat and peaty soils, silts, sapropels, clayey soils with a consistency index above 0.5, gleyed clays, and soils of wet solonchaks should be considered as weak soils
