Rockburst (RB) - a rapidly developing destruction of the highly stressed part of the coal (rock) mass adjacent to the mining excavation, caused by the immediate conversion into kinetic energy of the potential energy of elastic compression accumulated in the rock mass at the rockburst focus and elastic deformations of the surrounding rocks.
