Arctic Council
"Arctic Council" means the Arctic Council, an intergovernmental high-level forum officially established by the Ottawa Declaration of 1996. The activities of the Arctic Council are aimed at promoting cooperation, coordination, and interaction among Arctic states involving indigenous Arctic peoples and other residents of the Arctic region on common issues related to development, conservation, and protection of the Arctic, in particular, on issues of sustainable development and environmental protection. The member states of the Arctic Council are Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, the Russian Federation, Sweden, and the United States of America
