Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)


The Interstate Council is the highest organ of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC). It consists of heads of state and heads of government of the Contracting Parties.

The Interstate Council considers principal issues of the Community related to the common interests of member states, determines the strategy, directions and prospects for integration development, and adopts decisions aimed at achieving the objectives and tasks of the Eurasian Economic Community.

The Interstate Council assigns tasks to the Integration Committee, addresses inquiries and recommendations to the Interparliamentary Assembly, and submits inquiries to the Community Court.

By its decisions, the Interstate Council may establish auxiliary bodies of the Community.

The Interstate Council meets at the level of heads of state no less frequently than once a year and at the level of heads of government no less frequently than twice a year. The meetings are conducted under the chairmanship of a representative of the Contracting Party presiding over the Interstate Council.

The functions and procedures of the Intergovernmental Council are determined by the Charter, which is adopted by the Intergovernmental Council at the level of heads of state - members of the Eurasian Economic Union
