Counterfeiting of currency
1. The term "counterfeiting" refers both to the complete counterfeiting of a banknote and its partial counterfeiting (alteration). Alteration is considered to be the application of stickers, drawings, or overprinting of text or numbers that change the denomination of the banknote, changing the year of issue on an out-of-circulation banknote, as well as the forgery of the number, series, and other design elements of the banknote in such a way that the appearance of the alterations is similar to the corresponding details and design elements of a genuine banknote, and such altered banknote may be accepted into circulation as genuine. Banknotes with signs of alteration should be considered counterfeit and submitted to the territorial bodies of internal affairs in accordance with established procedures.
