Beta-carotene


Beta-carotene is a provitamin A and has antioxidant properties. 6 mcg of beta-carotene are equivalent to 1 mcg of vitamin A. The average consumption in different countries ranges from 1.8 - 5.0 mg per day. The upper acceptable intake level has not been established.
