Working Conditions and Daily Life of Seafarers
e) the term "working and living conditions of seafarers" means conditions relating, for example, to aspects such as accommodation and cleanliness of living and working areas on board ships, minimum age, employment contracts, food and its preparation, crew accommodation, recruitment and manning, qualifications, hours of work, medical examinations, prevention of occupational accidents, medical care, benefits in case of illness or injury, social welfare and related matters, repatriation, conditions and forms of employment as determined by national legislation, and freedom of association as defined in the 1948 International Labour Organization Convention concerning Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize.
