Film-forming substance

Film-forming substance is a substance that, after being applied to a surface, is capable of forming a continuous coating with good adhesion to the surface as a result of chemical or physical processes. A film-forming substance is the main component of any paint and varnish material, determining the properties of the resulting coating. In the paint and varnish industry, such substances are usually solutions or dispersions of synthetic polymers, such as alkyd, urea, epoxy, silicone-based resins (including synthetic rubber), chemically modified natural polymers (such as cellulose derivatives, bitumens, etc.)
