Video Switches

Video switchers are devices that provide sequential switching of video signals from multiple cameras to one or several outputs (monitors). Sequential-action video switchers have automatic ("scrolling") and manual switching modes, allowing viewing signals from all cameras or selectively from some of them. The number of input video channels can range from 4 to 16, and with the use of multiple switching blocks up to 64. However, in practice, switchers with 4 or 8 inputs are usually used, since in systems with a larger number of cameras it is more appropriate to use more complex equipment that has extended functions, programming capabilities, etc. When selecting a switcher, attention should be paid to its ability to adjust the camera viewing time (preferably individual adjustment for each camera), additional alarm inputs depending on the number of cameras or more for connecting security devices, and one or several alarm outputs. Upon triggering the security alarm system switches from "scrolling" mode to viewing the camera whose field of view was affected by the violation, allowing the operator to obtain comprehensive information about the violation and take appropriate measures. Some video switchers have such called the "burst" mode of operation, in which images on monitors are formed as linked, synchronously switching between each other groups. This function allows the operator to see the monitored area as a whole before moving on to the next one. Sequential action video switchers are relatively simple devices and are typically used in small and inexpensive systems
