Projection Televisions

In projection televisions, the light image is formed (projected) on the television screen using optical systems and reflective surfaces in order to maximize the picture size.

Depending on the method of obtaining the image, projection televisions are divided into the following types:

- cathode ray tubes (CRT);

- liquid crystal display (LCD) matrices;

- reflective LCD matrix systems (LCoS);

- micro mirrors (DLP - Digital Light Processing), which uses digital light processing; the principle of operation of the system is based on the operation of a chip, inside which there are electrostatically controlled micro mirrors, approximately 2 million mirrors, each of which forms an image in a specific place on the screen.

The standard screen of a projection television is a fine-grained plastic grid or a glass screen in the case of ferroelectric projection televisions. Projection televisions are equipped with a fairly wide range of mandatory features, such as various automatic focusing systems, decoders, etc. The approximate cost of a projection (CRT) television with a 38" diagonal size is between $500 and $700. As the screen size increases by 2 - 4 inches in diagonal measurement, the cost of the projection receiver increases by approximately 15 - 20%. The main manufacturers of projection televisions on the global market are the following companies: Samsung, Sony, Toshiba
